Edward Scissorhands

This play is a contemporary dance-based mime, based on the film of the same name directed by Tim Burton. Like "Minority Report," I was able to compare the differences between live performance and non-live performance through this play. Since the film already presented a fairy-tale-like production that felt like watching a play in the theater, I didn't feel sense of difference when watching it in the actual theater. Especially, one of my favorite scenes from the film, the ice dance scene, was beautifully described with choreography in this play. Since there are no lines, I believe it's crucial to convey the message of each scene effectively, and in that aspect, this play changes backgrounds frequently and utilizes various props. Furthermore, the use of projections to fill in the gaps was impressive. One interesting aspect was that since we were all seated the top balcony, we could capture the moments of scene transitions. It felt like watching behind the scenes, which was quite enjoyable.
