This play was adapted from a film of the same name, which is one of my personal favorites. Thus, I was able to compare the differences between live performance and non-live performance, namely between the film and the play. Firstly, since the story deals with science fiction, the movie presents a variety of grand scenes without constraints of time and space. However, due to the limitations of time and space in theater, this play actively utilizes projections. Projections are utilized from the front, sides, and back of the stage to depict the flow of time and changes of place. The projections are vivid, providing significant assistance in immersing the audience, almost as if watching a film. While it may be challenging to achieve the same scale as in a film, the clever use of projections played a outstanding role in delivering this level of immersive experience in the theater. Additionally, the set itself moving up or down to present various scenes was also impressive. Through this play, I could think about the most effective ways for transitioning a film into a play and learn how to utilize projections in diverse ways.
